Henna Jula: Ephemera

Past, 13 May—5 Jun 2016

The word ephemera (ἐπί – epi "over, above", ἡμέρα – hemera "day") means transient things. It refers to insects and plants that only live one day or for a short time. The word has a connection both to the briefness of the lives of the entities and organisms in the paintings and to the momentary nature of the act of painting itself. The works in the exhibition have been executed on consecutive days within a brief time period. The length of the preceding thought process, however, cannot be measured.

Welcome to the vernissage on Thursday 12 May at 6pm.
